Popcorn Write-up...
Popcorn, the perfect snack for a movie or really anytime. Who knew that this little dried-up corn kernel would pop open into this edible, light, and healthy treat after being put to some heat.
Historians have debated for years where exactly popcorn originated but they do know that it was discovered in one of the Americas.
Many believe that the Native Americans discovered popcorn first but archaeologists have found fossil traces of popcorn in Mexico.
Popcorn was not always used as a snack during the day or a baseball game or the movies because some colonist would actually eat it for breakfast with cream and sugar, like we would do now with our modern day cereal.
During the 1890’s popcorn became extremely popular, especially since it was the great depression and so cheap! Vendors would roll their street cart style popping machines and go where ever the crowd was.
They would go to parks and fairs and of course the people would buy it because of its low price people could afford it. Pretty much the popcorn business took off.
Popcorn rose to fame during World War II when sugar was being sent off to the troops which left little for candy production. During that time Americans ate three times more popcorn.
But as the war ended and television started to make a rise the popcorn industry saw a decline. Many people weren’t going to the movies anymore but a partnership between Coca-Cola and Morton Salt and advertising in individual companies made the idea of home popping a success in the 1950s.
In the 1980s microwave popcorn became the new sensation and now the average American eats around 68 quarts of pop corn a year.
Popcorn is still a huge staple in the country and is sold at the movies, grocery stores, and fairs. And there are still little vendors trying to make some money.
Like at Lyndon State College the Society of Professional Journalist have been selling popcorn at the weekly movies at the school for years now. It has been the clubs constant form of fundraising for trips to national journalism conferences.
Kevin Lessard who is currently the student government representative for the club makes the popcorn every week. He makes around 3 scoops of popcorn. He adds this buttery flavored liquid to get the yellow color and flavor that people want.
The bags of popcorn sell for a dollar and 50 cents for smaller bags and the club is thinking about maybe starting to sell drinks at the movies.

Jake Rock Climbing Project Description
Even though rock climbing at a rock wall isn’t as scary as scaling the side of a mountain many people over the course of history have done just that.
Rock climbing became more popular when people started to climb and be successful at it which was very publicized around the end of the 1800’s. There were over 200 small climbing clubs by 1930.
That is when rock climbing started to become a recreational sport and gear and equipment started to be made. Over time safer techniques were formed and mastered.
Nowadays “free climbing” is one of the most popular forms of rock climbing. It is when the climber will climb rocks but will only hold on to the rocks natural groves and formations only using gear for protection and not for helping the upward movement.
Rock climbing takes a lot of concentration. A climber tests his or her physical strengths and balance while up many feet in the air.
Here on the Lyndon State College campus there is a rock wall that is open every night from six to nine for people who want to know what the sport is all about.
Some basics that climbers learn first is all about the equipment that needs to be worn and how it needs to be secure.
Once a person gets harnessed up they learn how belay another person.
Belaying is when a person is at the base of the wall and/or mountain and is roped up to the person climbing so if they fall they wont fall very far which results in the climber not getting injured.
At the rock wall once a person has learned how to belay and is comfortable with it the instructor will let them climb on their own.
Rock climbing is a fun sport and a pretty good workout. The climber really works their leg muscles trying to push off to another grove or nub.
Jake Carlton currently works at the rock wall at Lyndon State College and is a sophomore in the mountain recreation major. He has been climbing for a couple of years now and has climbed some pretty steep mountain sides.
The rock wall at Lyndon State College is a way for him to teach people something that he already loves to do and he hopes to continue rock climbing in the future whether he owns his own gym or if he just continues to outdoor rock climb.
Enjoy!

Tyler Schofield: OHHH KEEEEEED (PROJECT)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOsYDX8VhFk&feature=youtu.be
Tyler Schofield: OHHH KEEEEEED
Tyler Schofield…friend….tennis player…rapper. When Schofield was a young ladd, he was inspired by Ying Yang twins and lyrical genius was embedded in his mind.
Originally born Middleboro Mass, his favorite food was his Mac n Cheese and lyrical genius was embedded in his head. When he entered Lyndon State College, he had few things on his mind. He wanted to play tennis.
He wanted to get a Television studies degree on the The Production house side of the business. And he wanted to drop hell fire and brimstone on paper with more lyrical genius. Entering his Junior year of college, he never though that he would be taken seriously in the rap game.
Aj Raskin, a friend of many, a true if you will, and a Music Buissness Industry major, approached him with one goal in mind, spit mad fire on stage. Schofield was pessimistic about the idea but Schofy was ready to role with the idea. Critics were harsh, they were determined to bring him down, ripping on his beats, his lyrics, his skin color.
After weeks of determination, preparation, observation and communication Schof was ready to put his money where his mic was. Schof created nine tracks with fresh beats. His manager, Aj Raskin, was extremely high on Schofield and for the feature of “Battle of the Bands :Music Mondays” Schof was to open for nationally known, folk band, Suncooked.
He was extremely scared the night of the show but with the help of his friends he took to the stage, and with DJ Trice the show went on. “It was cray KEEEEEEEDDDD” said Schofield. When asked if he will ever find the mic on the stage again? He replied “Ah, shit, nah kid, never again.”

Hungover Breakfast Taco: Description
Hey Ya'll!
Abe Hinman is an Lyndon State College junior and he occasionally likes to go to the bar and get a little wasted, which he can do legally because he is now 21, but in the morning when he has no money to go to the diner... what is he supposed to do?
The only logical solution is to make breakfast himself!
It is so much cheaper and yes, it does take a little bit of time out of your schedule but in the end you will have a great meal that you made yourself!
(NOTE: You need to have these items in your fridge before you get totally slammed at the bar and you need to have a stove! -duh-)
For this hungover extravaganza we needed the following items:
Bacon
Eggs
Pancake mix
Water (For the pancakes)
Pans (To cook with)
Measuring cups
Cheese (Optional)
Now that we had all of our items together it was time to wake Abram up, which he was not to complacent about. He finally woke up and remembered that we had a project to do.
He put on his pants and got out of his room to make himself a nice breakfast burrito which is a pancake with bacon and eggs on top and kind of just rolled all together.
We have found in our experience with hangovers and drinking that grease is really the best and most effective way to feel better. Bacon is greasy and most definitely delicious.
Eggs also provide the hungover human with much needed protein. And the pancake is the carb factor that will soak up all that extra alcohol in your system.
We would like to tell you before hand that Abram cannot really cook, he tries on occasion and usually fails.
Anyway, he makes it through the cooking part of the project pretty well. He did run off at one point to take a shot of vodka just help the hangover.
The end product that he ended up with was actually pretty good. Even though it looked more like a pancake taco-thing instead of a burrito it was still really delicious.
For the project itself we really wanted the sound to flow. This was difficult to do because there weren't very many places to edit the sound without it sounding semi choppy.
The fabulous Jessica Walsh took many photos during this project and we tried to find the ones that really captured the moments the best.
All in all we really like our project and we think it came together pretty well.
Also, we hope that next time you will enjoy the hangover! Now go make yourself a burrito.

Slideshow Synopsis
Howdy Ya'll...
Our slide show is going to be a little cooking lesson. We are going to teach LSC junior Abe Hinman how to cook himself a great hungover breakfast...which includes eggs, and pancakes. To start our story line we are going to wake him up in his dorm room after a night at the club and make him cook. We will of course have the recorder going the whole time and pictures to show what happened. The pictures through out the process will show what everything looked like. The photos will end up having a nice flow to them. We don't really want the slide show to look choppy and boring. Our goal is to keep the slide show moving and flowing to make it a more entertaining and attention grabbing. Also we plan to edit it down a whole lot to fit into the 2-3 minute time constraint. The intended audience is any hungover college student who wakes up hungover who doesn't have enough change in their pocket to get breakfast at the diner.Students should find this funny and very informative. It also will save them money and they can do it in their pj's! This is an interesting story for that audience because they should be entertained by the reaction we get. Our teams duties will be given out as follows:

Slideshow Review
The first slideshow I looked at had no music. It's from National Geographic and is all about traveling to Morocco. The slideshow was pretty simple, a lot of pictures of the photographer and the lady he was traveling with. Although it didn't have music, it was still entertaining because of the incredible quality of the photos.
The second slideshow with music was amazing. It is all stills of someone skiing down the slopes in Steamboat Springs. They must have used a helmet cam. You can tell a lot of work went into the final project. The music really helped string all the pictures together as well.
Last, but not least, is the photo gallery. I chose one on the Oscars. There are many on this website and they are all fabulous.

Podcasting Experience
I have to admit that I actually enjoyed making the podcast. It was very natural to sit at a desk and just talk. We all met down in the News 7 station and sat around the anchor desk. Before we started we went over all of the points that we wanted to cover.
We decided on about eight different awkward moments that we just couldn't pass up and we felt like we could hit the ten minute mark. When we were ready we got our selves together and hit record.
Before we knew it we had talked for alomst a half hour and a lot of it was rambling. We knew that we had to do a lot of editting. We did get of topic once and a while but when we did discuss a really funny awkward moment, everyone's comments were hilarious.
The hardest part I think was editting it all together to get down to about six minutes so it wasn't too long. We knew that we didn't want to lose our viewers attention.
Once we editted it on Audacity, we put it up on DivShare and then up on our blogs. Overall I loved the podcast experinence and would totally to it again.

Podcast Idea
Our podcast will be all about awkward moments...which will be pretty easy for me. It will be conversational, funny and entertaining. All four of us will take turns talking and we will branch off eachothers ideas.
It will be sort of scripted but we will try to keep it as natural as possible for your listening pleasure.

Three Podcast Reviews...
Well. Honestly...I've never really listened to podcasts before but from this assignment, I realized that they could be quite useful. Usually when Im doing homework or cleaning my room, I get easily distracted with Facebook or Twitter but not anymore.
Listening to a podcast you get all the information and entertainment while you still have the ability to multitask....it's genius. So here are the podcasts that I subscribed to...and don't judge me on the ones I selected.
The first winner was "Drinking made easy" for obvious reasons. I wanted to see if it would be a joke, or a serious podcast and it turned out to be both. The host, Zane Hamprey, talked about of course drinking games and mixers, but he also interviewed a owner of a restaurant about what kinds of wine goes be with certain foods.
I definitely liked this one, but he did tend to ramble a lot and I found myself fast forwarding a lot and because of that, I wouldn't put it on my iPod.
Winner number two was "How to do everything" which got my attention by it's clever picture of a finger saying step one and the finger pushing a button as step two. This podcast was very funny.
Under the comedy section, the "podcasters" took requests from their listeners and gave them advice to do many things like how to sharpen a disposable razor, how to eat messy food, and even how to get a non-creepy massage.
The part about this podcast that I liked was how they did their titles. They would choose three random words from the podcast...and example would be Massage, Piranhas and Puppies, and then the subtitle would be How to Get a Non-Creepy Massage.
I would totally listen to this again and totally put it on my iPod...totally.
The last and final winner was kinda weird, but I like weird, so just go with it. This one was entitled "Mike and Tom Eat Snacks".
Yup...like I said it was weird. The two comedians did what they said....talked about the snacks they were eating. Episode titles were Pirates Booty, Candy Canes, Guacamole or even Munchkins.
I don't think I would subscribe to this or put it on my iPod. It was a little too out there for me.
All in all, podcasts were pretty cool and I think I found a new way to get my homework done while learning how to get a non-creepy massage.

Conrad...did you forget your glasses again??
A hunting accident in Albany left one man shot and the other arressted for aggravated assault.
Conrad Masse, 76, and Wayne Goff, 58, were hunting bear together using GPS to track two bear hounds that they had earlier released. Masse used his truck to try to get in front of the bear while Goff waited down the road.
When the bear did emerge, the two men were approximatley 541 feet from eachother. Upon seeing the bear, Masse opened fire and fired at least three shots.
Of those three shots, only one struck the bear while another shot struck Gof in the pelvic area. He was then transported to North Country Hospital where he was later transferred to Darmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
After investigationing the inccident further, Masse was issued a citation to appear in court on charges of Aggravated Assault on Februray 28th. He was also issued tickets for having a loaded rifle in his vehicle and not having the proper display of permits for the bear hounds.
Gof has since been released from the hospital and is now in stable condition.
